The Science and Art of Relaxation Day
Time & Location
About The Event
You know how you feel after a good sleep, or a good holiday? A rosy, rested feeling. A deep sense of ease and comfort with yourself and the world around you. Refreshed and inspired, perhaps a feeling of clarity and the ability to make changes and meet whatever life may throw at you.
Modern medicine recognises rest & relaxation as integral to a healthy lifestyle and increasingly the science shows that stress reduction plays a vital role in disease management.
But WHY is it so important our health to reduce our stress response and HOW do we do it?
Debbie Lewis, Functional Medicine Practitioner, will discuss the WHY and dive into the science behind the stress response from a Functional Medicine perspective. She will discuss its effect on the common symptoms that many of the patients in her clinic present with and how simple lifestyle changes can have a significant effect on the long term management of your stress response.
Lisa Wise, yoga teacher, will show you HOW by taking you through a gentle, restorative yoga session to soften and hydrate the body incorporating mindful breathing practices to guide the mind towards a calmer, more spacious state. Her session will be designed to create a tangible sense of ease and wellbeing in body and mind with plenty of useful 'take home' techniques to bring about lasting change.
Zoe Mason, movement meditation teacher, will finish off the session with a deeply restorative sound bath using her beautiful crystal bowls to bring resonance and vibrational healing to your body mind and spirit encouraging a total let go.
There will, as in all the best therapeutic traditions, be tea and a delicious nourishing snack to end our day. Tickets are £30.
